Welcome to Sterling Claim Consultants — Where Experience Meets Results
With over a decade of hands-on experience managing large commercial losses and high-end residential claims, I’ve built lasting relationships across the insurance appraisal industry. These connections allow us to navigate the appraisal process efficiently and deliver strong, consistent outcomes.
As the owner of a statewide public adjusting firm in Florida, I’ve conducted numerous appraisals not only for our own clients, but also on behalf of fellow public adjusters, attorneys, and contractors. That journey revealed a crucial insight — the appraisal process operates on a very different playing field than traditional insurance adjusting. It’s more nuanced, more political, and demands a specialized approach.
That’s why I founded Sterling Claim Consultants — a company dedicated exclusively to insurance appraisals. Our focus is clear: to represent policyholders with precision, professionalism, and an in-depth understanding of the unique dynamics at play.
Our mission is simple: With the strength of our experience and the power of our network, we ensure you receive nothing less than a Sterling appraisal.

Established & Respected Relationships With Opposing Appraisers

Less than 25% of Appraisals go to umpire:
Although I maintain a strong network of trusted umpires, many of whom are routinely approved by opposing appraisers, my priority is always to resolve claims efficiently and in the best interest of the insured. These relationships are built on years of professionalism and mutual respect, which often helps streamline the process when an umpire is necessary.
That said, I’m able to avoid the need for an umpire approximately 75% of the time on smaller losses under $100,000 by presenting clear, well-supported arguments that lead to a fair resolution between appraisers. This not only saves time but also reduces costs for the policyholder.
When an umpire is required, the strength of my connections ensures the selection of knowledgeable, impartial professionals who contribute to a timely and appropriate award. In both scenarios, my experience and relationships help move the process forward — delivering results without unnecessary delays.

3-month average time frame:
I hear of these dreaded appraisal processes that can take months, even over a year, to conclude. That is why I focus on strong communication with the opposing appraiser, the appraisal panel, and the client. The law firms and contractors that I deal with seem to be consistently impressed with the turnaround time of my appraisals, averaging less than three months.

Awards that surpass Proof of Loss:
I have increased the scope of damages during the appraisal process, although rare, this has enabled me to surpass the sworn proof of loss value signed by the ensured. This is especially impressive to law firms and public adjusters that trust in Sterling Claim Consultants to do their appraisals.

Relationships Matter:
At Sterling Claim Consultants, our reputation and long-standing relationships with respected umpires and opposing appraisers nationwide are one of our greatest strengths. These professional relationships help facilitate smoother negotiations, improve credibility during the appraisal process, and often lead to faster, more favorable resolutions for our clients. In the appraisal world, experience matters, but trusted relationships are invaluable.

What is an insurance appraisal?
The insurance appraisal process is a way to resolve disputes between a policyholder and their insurance company when they disagree on the amount of damage or how much a claim is worth.
Here’s how it works:
- Each side picks an appraiser – You (the policyholder) choose one appraiser, and the insurance company picks another. These appraisers are experienced professionals who look at the damage and try to agree on a fair value.
- If they agree, the claim is settled. If both appraisers come to the same number, that’s the final amount the insurance company will pay.
- If they disagree, an umpire steps in. If the appraisers can’t agree, they bring in a neutral third person, called an umpire, who reviews the situation and helps make the final decision.
- The decision is binding. Once two out of the three (either the two appraisers or one appraiser and the umpire) agree on an amount, the dispute is settled, and the insurance company must pay that amount.
